New Delhi, 14 Nov 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The Gorakhpur Police have registered a sedition case against four Muslim men after Hindu groups created a ruckus over the allegation that an alleged Pakistani flag was hoisted on the rooftop of a house in Mundera Bazar area of Chauri Chaura in Gorakhpur.

The residents of the house reportedly told the flags were Islamic flags and were not related to Pakistan, The Indian Express reported.

No Pakistan flag was found during a search of the two houses, the police said. The families handed over to the police four flags, which they said had been mistaken for the Pakistan flag.

A group of people gathered outside two houses and pelted them with stones on Wednesday. A four-wheeler belonging to one of the families was damaged in stone pelting, SHO of Chauri Chaura police station Shyam Bahadur Singh told TIE.

The matter was resolved after the police lodged the FIR. Heavy police deployment has been made in the area, he added.

Gorakhpur SSP Vipin Tada said the police were investigating the matter. Also, they were verifying the writing in Urdu found on one of the flags handed over to them.

The men booked by the police have been identified as Talim, Pappu, Ashiq and his brother Asif.
