Covid: 99 cured, 75 of them from Bhatkal walk home in U-K dist

Bhatkal, 20 July 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Sunday turned out to be a fortunate day for Uttara Kannada district as 99 Covid patients who were cured were discharged from various hospitals in the district. This included 75 people from Bhatkal taluk alone.

While 17 people were discharged from Sirsi hospital, four from Kumta, two from Haliyal, and one from Siddapur too returned home. Until now, 445 people have recovered from Covid-19 in the district, whereas 630 are still under treatment in various hospitals.

69 new cases

As per the Health Department report, 69 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the district on Sunday, taking the total cases to 1,085.

Of them, 17 are from Kumta taluk, 12 from Yellapur taluk, 10 from Ankola taluk, six each from Bhatkal, Karwar and Mundgod taluks, four from Honnavar taluk, three from Siddapur taluk, two each from Sirsi and Joida taluks, and one from Haliyal
taluk.

Source of infection of 37 cases is still unknown, while seven people had come to the district from other States. Six people have ILI (fever) symptoms, and one patient has SARI.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 positives who do not have any symptoms have been shifted to the Covid Care Centre set up at the BCM hostel in Karwar.
