Mangaluru, 28 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Senior Congress leader Ivan D’Souza lashed out at the governor for inviting the BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa to form the government, saying it does not have a clear majority and will be short-lived.
He was addressing reporters at Mangaluru vehemently objected to the Governor’s move. "Despite knowing that it is a minority government BS Yediyurappa has been invited to form a government. Mr. Yediyurappa had taken oath as the CM soon after the election and when he did not have the number, he resigned. It is the same assembly now, and for a majority in the house, today too he needs 111 votes. Yet Yediyurappa has taken oath as the CM. This is against the constitution. If somebody approached the court then the government would be in trouble," he said.
"Anybody from the state could go to the court. I too might consider it", Ivan said adding that while he would abide by what his party says, he had brought it to the notice of KPCC president that the procedure of making Yediyurappa the CM was not correct. Differences within the BJP and dissidence would have an impact, he added.
"Leaders have started asking for cabinet berths. One leader has said that all the MLAs who had resigned should be made ministers. Some want five DCM posts to be created. RSS leaders are in support of making Madhuswamy as the CM. Amidst all this confusion it will be a short-lived government," he professed, predicting elections after the fall of BJP government. "In the election Congress, led by Siddaramaiah would come to power with a clear majority," he said, but refused to be pinned down on whether a Congress-JD(S) coalition would be on the cards.
