Bengaluru, 07 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: With a record victory of Anitha Kumaraswamy in Ramanagar Assembly constituency in the by-election on Tuesday defeating BJP candidate L Chandrashekar with a margin of 1.09 lakh votes, both Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy entered the Legislative Assembly together for the second time and thus created a history.

Ramanagar seat was vacant as Kumaraswamy preferred to retain Channapatna constituency from where he had won in the last assembly elections.

JDS leader K Gopalaiah said that “it is a rare occasion that a chief minister and his wife both are entering the Assembly together. The State Assembly has never ever had such an instance where a chief minister and his wife become MLAs together. However, the two had earlier been the members of the Assembly together as Kumaraswamy had represented Ramanagar constituency, and Anitha was the MLA from Madhugiri seat”, he said.

There are instances of brothers, father-son duo and father-daughter have entered the House.
