ANKARA, 24 September 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The death toll from landslides triggered by Typhoon Mangkhut in the Philippines has reached 98 people, according to local media on Monday.
The number of the victims who lost their lives in the landslide last Thursday near Naga City in Cebu province has risen to 49, local media reported.
Rescue efforts were still underway for 30 missing people in the Naga City.
Forty-nine others were killed in a separate earthfall that hit the mining town of Itogon in northern Benguet province on Sept. 15.
The Typhoon Mangkhut itself, which affected the country’s north last week, alone killed at least 81 people.
The typhoon hit the Philippines on Sept. 15 with a 255-kilometer (158 miles) per hour speed on the first day, and decreased its speed down to 100-kph (62 mph) on Sept. 16, before leaving the country.
