Bhatkal: Five killed in Tempo Traveler-tanker collision

Bhatkal, 16 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In a road accident, five persons were killed when a Tempo Traveler was hit by a speeding tanker near Karki in Honnavar in Uttar Kannada district on Saturday, September 15.
According to the sources, a Tempo Traveler plying from Kumta to Honnavar was hit by a speeding tanker from the opposite direction. As a result, five persons who are travelling in Tempo Traveler were killed on the spot. Meanwhile, several others who were travelling in the same vehicle and tanker were also injured.

The names of the deceased have been given as Kamalakar Bhandary (50) from Baggaon in Kumta, Mohan Mesta (50) from Karki in Honnavar, Simanth Madiwala (38) and her daughter, Sinchana Madiwala (6) from Kumta, and Nagaraj Naik (26) from Honnavar.

After the accident happened at around 6.30 pm at Karki near Honnavar on national highway 66, police were informed. They, with the help of the general public, shifted the injured to Honnavar government hospital where they were provided emergency treatment before being rushed to Manipal for advanced treatment.

The bodies of the deceased persons were taken away for post-mortem. A case about the accident was registered in Honnavar police station and investigation was launched.
