Bengaluru, 01 Apr 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is planning to establish five charging kiosks at Kempegowda bus station at Majestic, Shanthinagar, Yeshwanthpur and Shivajinagar bus stands for the benefit of BMTC commuters who do not wish to carry a backup battery for their mobile phones.
Another four kiosks are planned at Whitfield bus station and two each at Banashankari, Kengeri, Vijayanagar, Domlur and Jayanagar bus stations.
A tender has been floated inviting private participation to open the kiosks. The BMTC will provide advertisement revenue at the kiosks, and will issue a licence for a five-year period to run them.
Commuters can charge their phones free of cost. “Though carrying battery backup is handy, not everyone does this. These kiosks will help those passengers who want to charge their mobile phones while waiting for a bus,” said a senior BMTC official.
