Six Iraq police killed in attack blamed on Daesh
BAGHDAD, 20 July 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: Six Iraqi police were killed and seven wounded early Wednesday in an attack by Daesh on their position in a remote area north of Baghdad, a military source said. “Between 10 and 15 Daesh group fighters attacked this federal police forward position around 12:30 am (2130 GMT Tuesday). The attack lasted around an hour,” the source said, asking not to be identified. Iran summons Iraqi envoy over consulate torching
TEHRAN, 08 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Iran on Saturday summoned Iraqi ambassador in Tehran Rajeh al-Musawi over torching its consulate in the southern Basra province amid protests against poor public utilities and unemployment. On Friday, an angry mob torched the Iranian consulate in Basra as well as a number of government buildings amid growing unrest in the province over high unemployment and poor public services. In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the Iraqi security forces “neglected intervention to protect the consulate”. The ministry asked the Iraqi envoy to forward its condemnation to the Iraqi government and ensure accountability to those responsible for the incident. W. Bank Palestinian dies in Israel army custody: Family
RAMALLAH, 18 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: A Palestinian youth on Tuesday died within hours of being detained by Israeli army troops in the occupied West Bank, according to members of the young man’s family. Relatives of Mohamed al-Rimawi, 21, said the Israeli army had informed them of the young man’s death only hours after taking him from his home in the West Bank town of Beit Rima. According to family members, al-Rimawi was beaten while in custody. No additional information is yet available regarding the alleged incident.
