RAMALLAH, 19 Feb 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Palestinians have denounced an Israeli decision to withhold millions of dollars in tax revenue owed to the Palestinian Authority (PA).  "The Israeli cabinet decision to cut the PA tax fund, which is drawn from [taxes collected from] the Palestinian people, is despicable,” prominent Palestinian activist Mustafa Barghouthi told Anadolu Agency.  Barghouthi, leader of the Palestinian National Initiative movement, went on to describe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet as “the most racist government in the world”. Assad prevents Syrians in Lebanon from returning home

BEIRUT, 19 Mar 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Syrian refugees in Lebanon will not be able to return home as long as the Bashar al-Assad regime rejects taking them back, veteran Lebanese politician Walid Jumblatt said Monday. Jumblatt, president of the Progressive Socialist Party, said the refugees are afraid to go back home out of fear of being tortured by the regime. “It is impossible for the masses [of refugees] to return home while the Syrian regime refuses to receive them,” he added. The regime has accepted less than 20 percent of the refugees who have attempted to return to Syria, said Richard Kouyoumjian, Lebanon’s minister of social affairs. Damascus is the decision-maker for the refugees' return, not Lebanon, he said. Mireille Girard, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) representative in

Iran surpasses uranium enrichment limit

TEHRAN, 09 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Iran confirmed Monday it has breached the 3.67% limit of uranium enrichment set by the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers. Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said Tehran began the second phase of reducing its commitments under the nuclear deal. "We waited for two months and then started the second phase yesterday," he said in statements cited by the official IRNA news agency. He confirmed that "we surpassed the %3.67 limit." The spokesman said the 20% enrichment is one of the third phase of Iran scaling down its commitments under the 2015 deal. "Twenty percent is not needed now, but if we want we will produce it. When we've put aside 3.67% enrichment we have no obstacle or problem with this action,"
