New Delhi, 30 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: In a shameful development, the Congress government in Rajasthan on Saturday filed a chargesheet against Pehlu Khan and his two sons for cow smuggling.

Pehlu was beaten to death by a mob in Alwar in 2017 while he was transporting cattle.

On December 30 last year, the chargesheet was prepared that also names the owner of the pick-up truck that was used for transporting the cattle on April 1, 2017. The chargesheet, which comes months after the Congress formed a government in the state, was presented in the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in Behror on May 29 this year.

The police chargesheeted Khan’s sons Irsad (25) and Arif (22) under sections 5, 8 and 9 while charges have been framed against Pehlu posthumously under section 6 of the Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act, 1995.

Two First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed in the case – one was against eight people who allegedly lynched the dairy farmer, and the other was against him and his sons for transporting cattle allegedly without the district collector’s permission.

The latest chargesheet was filed by the Rajasthan government in the second FIR. The case against Pehlu Khan will be closed as he has died, but it will continue against his sons.

The police had earlier given a clean chit to the six people accused of lynching Pehlu Khan, a dairy farmer.

The case against Pehlu Khan will be closed as he has died, but it will continue against his sons.
