Bengaluru, 13 May 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Defending Chief Minister Kumaraswamy, who has come under criticism for staying in a luxury resort, when almost the entire state is reeling under drought Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar on Sunday said that Kumaraswamy has been discharging his duties properly and has already reviewed the drought situation at the recently held Cabinet meeting.
Speaking on the issue Shivakumar said that in a recent Cabinet meeting Kumaraswamy has issued appropriate directions to his Cabinet colleagues on providing relief measures to the affected people.
He further added that the coalition government has taken all necessary measures to mitigate drought conditions. Drinking water is being supplied to more than 2,500 affected villages through tankers. We have also ensured sufficient storage of water in all dams.
Kumaraswamy had campaigned day and night for the Lok Sabha polls and there is nothing wrong if he is taking rest now, he said.
We don’t have to take advice from the BJP in running the administration, he added.
Kumaraswamy, who recently returned from a resort in Udupi where he underwent treatment and visited some temples, was camping at a resort in Kodagu district for the last two days.
